Like Mother, Like Daughter...Like Father, Like Son

There has never been any question who Jason looked like. The very first thing I thought when I saw Jason for the first time was that he had Shane's eyes. Strangers make comments all the time about how much they look alike. With Madison it wasn't as clear, some people say she looks like me but others don't think so at first. One thing that is interesting is that no one has ever said that I look like Jason or that Madison looks like Shane. Here are some pictures of Shane and Jason both at one year old. Followed by pictures of me as a baby and then Madison at a similar age.Shane one year

She's getting sooo big!

I'm proud of my VERY limited photoshop skills, black and white with bits of color is one of the few things I know how to do. This picture was hard to take because all she wanted to do was get on the floor and put the blocks in her mouth. Madison is in full teething mode. She is getting her very first tooth, actually two, both the front bottom teeth are poking through. I thought she was never going to get teeth. I wasn't complaining though since I am still nursing!

Putting my degree to good use

I've been doing some homeschooling with Jason recently. He will be attending the Spanish Schoolhouse for preschool this year which is a Spanish immersion school. Since he will be learning primarily Spanish at preschool I think it is important that I work with him on the English side of phonics and reading. Today we learned about the letter E and number 8. We did eggshell art, made an Elmo out of a toilet paper tube (weird I know but he loved it) , made scrambled and boiled eggs, sang E songs, learned the sight words "eat" and "egg" and practiced counting and writing the number 8. I am really enjoying being in the teacher role again and getting to plan out what lessons we will do each day. Jason is such a sponge, he amazes me with everything he is learning. Madison even joined in on the fun, enjoying her first taste of egg yolk, which she loved!

Our Future Rocker

Jason's newest favorite thing is rocking out on Guitar Hero, or as he calls it "Rockin-a-roll remote control". He asks to play several times a day and even has a favorite song, Slow Ride, although he calls it Slow Ba. He only hits one or two notes correctly so we have to put it on practice mode so he won't get booed off the stage. I'm just thrilled the dust is getting blown off of the Wii that Shane just had to have!

Madison's First Snowcone

We went to the "Frisco Snow Cone Lady" stand on Saturday and Madison had her very first taste of snow cone. Of course she loved it, and became completely covered in red snow cone juice. Jason loved his also as evident from his bright blue mouth. It's funny how much more laid back you are with the second child, I'm sure Jason didn't have snow cone for the first time until well after his first birthday, with the second child 7 months seemed old enough!

p.s These pics were taken with my new iphone I got a couple of weeks ago, I LOVE it!

Our Louisiana Trip

We went to Louisiana last week with my parents. We were only gone for 6 days but it felt like an eternity, Jason was a handful and a half and well it is difficult to travel with both kids without Shane's help. Never the less we had a a good time visiting with family and eating yummy seafood, it was crab season woohoo! Here is a picture of Maw-Maw with Jason and Madison at the Mike the Tiger habitat at LSU.
