The difference between boys and girls

Madison is so sweet with her baby doll. She kisses her, hugs her, pats her on the back and then hands her to me to do the same.

My sweet little girl even covers her baby doll up with a blanket.

Jason is not quite as nurturing with the baby doll. The blanket was turned into a cape and put around the dolls neck to become a super hero.

He then grabbed the poor doll by the tag on its back, flew it through the air and head dived it into the bathroom counter top.

I love my sweet little girl and rough and tumble boy!

Chef Jason

I took Jason to a mom and tot cooking class with Jason's buddy Zander and my friend Ashli. On the menu was lasagna, cracker bread, and apple pie biscuits. Of course my picky eater refused to eat any of the food he made, but he had fun making it! I was afraid that Zander and Jason would be the only boys there, however the boys outnumbered the girls 2 to 1. I think little boys just really like to cook!

Aren't they cute in their aprons?

10 years

10 years ago tonight Shane and I had our very first date. We went to Olive Garden, where Shane ate salad for the first time just to impress me! He didn't want me to think he was weird for not eating anything green, I found out eventually though! We had only been dating for a few minutes and I was already having a positive effect on him. To this day he still eats salad. After dinner he took me to Marble Slab where we both got our favorite ice cream, Sweet Cream. We then went to see "At First Sight" at the movies. It was a very average movie but we own it on dvd since it is special to us.

I will back up a minute and tell you how we arrived at this first date. Shane and I met while I was waiting tables over Christmas break from college back home in Hurst. He came in and sat in my section with some friends of mine. When I got off of work I met up with everyone at a friends house. According to Shane I blew him off that night, but I had no idea he was even intersted. After Christmas break was over and we were both back at Texas A&M I ended up showing up at a party at his house. We stayed up the ENTIRE night sitting on the couch talking and watching bad infomercials on tv. When I left he gave me his work number and days and times he worked, but never asked for my number. So in order to get my number he went to the mall where he knew my friend worked and asked her for my number. He called and asked me out and that is how we ended up on our very first date on Jan. 24 1999.

So tomorrow night we will go out to dinner at The Olive Garden, stop for ice cream at Marble Slab and come home to watch At First Sight. And this time instead of getting a good night kiss outside my dorm, we will get to kiss our two beautiful children good night!

p.s. the picture was taken on our very first Valentines Day when we had been dating for 3 weeks, look how young (and skinny) we were. I was 19 and Shane was 21

Getting Crafty

I made these name plaques for the kid's doors. I think they turned out pretty cute, ok except for the fact that I ran out of room on Madison's name and just put Madi. Now most people spell Madi either Maddie or Maddy. I kind of like Madi though because it is shorter and just drops the son from her name. Plus it is all that would fit on the plaque so I went with it!

Pancakes and Pj's

We made blueberry buttermilk pancakes using this recipe and they were oh so yummy. Of course I had my little helpers in the kitchen as usual.

My helpers ready to cook

Madison trying to steal some batter

We made Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes, did your mom make them for you too? What is it about pancakes in the shape of the mouse that makes them taste oh that much better?

Maddie Walks!

Madison is now taking 3-4 steps at a time. I know she will be off and running in no time! Here are some pictures of her walking to Daddy.

My little teethbrushers

Anytime Madison disappears we know exactly where to find her, on the top of the step stool, at the bathroom sink, reaching for her toothbrush. Both Jason and Madison just love to brush their teeth. I might have the makings of future dentists here!
