Some sad news

I had posted before about my friend Ashli's husband needing a donor to help fight his lymphoma. I'm sad to say that he lost his fight on Friday night. He left behind my amazing friend Ashli and their two beautiful children. His blog is here .

A little getaway

My parents have Jason in Florida for nine days, so we decided to ask Shane's parents to watch Madi for the weekend so we could drive up to Hot Springs, Ar. It was really pretty and we had a nice time relaxing without the kids. We enjoyed, walking around downtown, driving in the mountains, visiting the winery, and making free money at the casino.

We went up a tower on top of a mountain, here were the views.

This was one of the bathhouses along bathhouse row.

Giraffes, and Zebras and Dinos, oh my!

We took the kids on a trip out to Glen Rose this week to see dinosaur tracks and a Texas safari. We all had a great time. Here are the kids reading dinosaur books on the 2 hour drive out there.

We headed over the the Safari first. the kids got to see all kinds of animals and most of them came right up to your car to eat. I don't know what Jason liked more feeding the animals or getting to sit in Daddy's lap and "drive". We were surprised at how much Madison was into feeding the animals. She called all of them "doggieees" and held out the food for them to take, it was so adorable! I was so afraid she was going to get bit because she was holding on to the food tight, but luckily she didn't.

No, we weren't feeding the animals tater tots, we stoped at Sonic for breakfast and used the box to hold the animals food for the kids.

Here we are feeding the giraffes through the sunroof, which was so cool. Jason said that the giraffe needed to shave like daddy because it had hairs around its mouth that tickled him!

Midway through the safari there is a rest stop with a petting zoo.

Then we hopped back into the car to see more animals, first up, the Zebras. I didn't let the kids feed them because I know they are mean suckers and the last time we did one of these drive through animal safaris, the Zebra stuck its head in the car and grabbed the entire bag of food. I let him too because they are seriously aggressive and I didn't want my hand bitten off!

Then it was time to leave and head over to see the dinosaur tracks! But not before the kids posed in front of the fake dinosaur.

The tracks, Jason was a lot more interested in them than I thought he would be. He couldn't wait to see more "dinosaur footprints"

Holding on for dear life!

This past weekend we went out on the lake and Jason got to go tubing for the first time! I was really nervous that he would be too scared but he was a real trooper. He absolutley loved the whole thing and couldn't wait to go again.
